GIVEAWAY: Nintendo DSi & 2 games!!! PDF Print E-mail
Written by OHmommy

Here are your random numbers: 161 Timestamp: 2010-09-21 01:05:11 UTC  Congrats to JAReece!!!!

We aren't big gamers. But we are avid travelers. And thank goodness our travel loving family lives in an age where gaming is a huge industry and the quality/quantity of video games is amazing. The Nintendo DS has drastically improved our road trips keeping the kiddos entertained, with games we deem appropriate, for hours.

My most favorite feature about the Nintendo DS is that you can purchase one game cartridge and "download" it to another DS (in close proximity) so multiple people can play against each other, as seen in the video below. This means that my children (8,6 and 3) can play together and I can read a book on our travels.

We purchased our Nintendo DSs last holiday season and they made our 19 hour road trip home from Disney a little less stressfull. So it's my pleasure to announce the following:

1.  My friends at GameStop are offering the super popular Nintendo DSi at a reduced price of $149.99

2.  Want to learn more about how gaming promotes skills, values and family togetherness? Then, please join me at the #gno Twitter party this WEDNESDAY, September 15 from 9 - 11 p.m. ET (8 CT, 7 MT, 6 PT). Let's chat! I am OHmommy on twitter.

3.  Want a chance to win DSi for the ENTIRE FAMILY and ten games? Enter here at TodaysMama.

ONE CLASSY CHAOS commenter will win their very own Nintendo DSi and two games. The approximate retail value is $210!!! All you need to do is comment (let me know who would use the DSi) for your chance to win. Tweet this giveaway for an extra entry (please leave another comment with your tweet because I can't keep track as I am the PTA room-parent for both kiddos this year and ohmygosh the emails I get!  Leave me the tweet in the comments, please).

Win a Nintendo DSi & 2 games from @OHmommy http://tinyurl.com/2b7of8b

Giveaway ends midnight on Saturday Sept 18th, 2010.

Disclosure: All opinions are my own. I was given a DSi and two games to giveaway and to review.

My boys both have DS's and love them. I agree, they are lifesavers for road trips. We had a 1,200 trip to NY and then back-we made sure the kids had them and all the games.

We love Nintendo!

# Daniella 2010-09-14 22:17
We are also not a gaming family... Only fam on the block without a wii, xbox, etc... My son does play pc games that we find appropriate. I have heard great things about the nintendo ds and I think this would be good for my 10 year old son when we travel on our boat. we are sometimes running our boat for 7 hours at a time for a long trip. Thanks for the giveaway.

# Lauri 2010-09-15 05:36
My 5 year old had her ds lite stolen at summer camp...I guess even in Ohio nothing is safe anymore... sigh..

My daughter loved her DS, I loved that I could buy games that actually challenged her brain and taught her something. I have to admit I liked having the peace and quiet for a few minutes.

If I were the lucky winner of this DSI, I would surprise my daughter and give it to her on some random day just for being the amazing kid that she is

Well, I have two girls, ages 6 and 7. We have two ds systems and one is on the blink, so if I won, I would probably sneak the new one inside one of their old cases and not tell them which kid had the new one.

# Kel 2010-09-15 07:31
Who would use it..oh my. Out of three kiddos I'd be willing to wager that #2 would. She's been asking for one for a little while now but we have not bought her one. She has two gameboys and both #2 & #3 play with those. :)

Jaelah, my six-year-old daughter would use the DSi. She's been asking for it for two years. Her grandmother said she would to get it for her 6th birthday (April) but never followed through. She was so heartbroken!

I told myself that I'd save up and buy it for Christmas, but if we win the giveaway, it would save a lot of money. She'd be thrilled, and so would my bank account!

She deserves it too. She's been trying her hardest in school, is a huge help around the house and an awesome big sister! :)

The DSi would go to my 8yo daughter who has been begging for one for a year now. She currently has a used one we bought prior to her surgery 18 months ago so she would have something to do while laying the hospital bed recovering for a few days. She would FLIP!

Oh gosh, my son Jack would DIE for this giveaway! I don't usually enter to win things, but for him, I am! He's 7 and has never had any kind of gaming system. We've held out, but more and more of his friends are getting them and he's been begging for one for over a year! It's not been in the budget so he's been trying to save his money! He has $27.43 (he just counted)! And I'm afraid by the time he saves enough, he'll be too old! :) Anyway, if he won, he'd be overjoyed!

Great giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win!

Is it bad to say I would really want it? My boyfriend already has one I am always trying to steal.

My Grandpa was just diagnosed with an advanced case of melanoma. We have been driving 4 hours every other Friday night and back 4 hours the following Sunday in order to spend all of the time that we can with him. With this amazing gift, my 8 year old would have a little bit of entertainment for the trip and just maybe, I wouldn't have to hear her complain about the dog breathing on her. Please help preserve what little mental sanity I have left!

# Shannon Schulte 2010-09-15 20:43

My son (6) has been wanting one of these for a long time, but I've resisted partly on the grounds of expense. It would, however, be extremely useful for the 45 minutes/week he has to sit through his sister's ballet class or the hour she putters around during his soccer practice, and so on. Even if I don't win this giveaway (though of course I hope I do :), can I make a plug for you to put up a list of your favorite "mom approved" games? I'd love to know.

Also, I tweeted this, but I don't know how to get the url for a specific tweet, so I am lamely here giving you a link to my twitter stream. Since I have a ton of work to do today, you can be pretty sure that there won't be any other tweets above this one for a while from me. twitter.com/MommysMartini

My son has one and uses it all the time. So, obviously, my 4 year old daughter NEEDS one because right now it is pretty much all they fight over.

The user of the DSi would be the resident five year old who only learned of the DSi recently and now believes she will live a long lonely existence without one.
Heaven forbid I force that sort of life upon her.

# Melissa 2010-09-16 20:21
The husband and I would use it for a while until the kids are older. ;)

# Nikki 2010-09-16 21:06
My son would love the DSi! He is already asking Santa for one!

# Nadine 2010-09-17 02:03
Didn't realize they could link and play together ... [is that sad to admit?] NOticed games on the scholastic book order even, math and science and other ones too for Lia's age. We limit games, but use them like you for trips. I looked, there are even games for the younger one too!

# Scary Mommy 2010-09-17 05:57
Ben is DYING for one of these-- ALL of his friends have them and I am the MEANEST mother in the world. Help me out, OHMommy, won't you?

# Krystyn 2010-09-17 08:23
Izzy would love this! And, hopefully, she would share with me, too!

# LemonDrop 2010-09-17 15:23
My almost 8 year old daughter would be the happy recipient of a DS. Her birthday is coming up on 9/25 and she'd really like one. She's seen other kids playing them and always wants to play on theirs. My husband and I think she is finally old enough for the responsibility of owning one.

# Lisa 2010-09-17 16:14
Good gravy my 6-year-old would flip! I would officially win the best mom of the year in her eyes :)

# Sunday 2010-09-17 21:16
My 5 year old daughter would be getting this. Her 8 year old brother got one a few months ago and won't share with her, so she wants her own. Her birthday is next week so this would be great timing! :)

# rodriwan 2010-09-18 05:16
I would give it to my brother, he's 10. He loves videogames.

# Melissa Lierman 2010-09-18 12:28
My 11.5 year old son would love a Nintendo - he has wanted one for the past year and has been saving 1/2 of his allowance each week for one - he's not quite there yet. I would love to reward all of his good savings for all his hard work. We recently moved 3 hours away from our hometown and I know that having the Nintendo DS would make the car rides go much quicker for him !

I would love to give the Nintendo DSi to my hubby who works so hard and travels all over the world for his job. He could really use this to pass the time in airports or on the plane. I would love to give him something to show how grateful we are that he works so hard for our family. Thank you and Gamestop for the chance to win!

I would use the DSi myself! I used to own a DS and loved it, but owning the DSi would be even better. I play whenever I'm waiting (waiting rooms, on the bus, etc).. which seems to be quite often!
