We aren't big gamers. But we are avid travelers. And thank goodness our travel loving family lives in an age where gaming is a huge industry and the quality/quantity of video games is amazing. The Nintendo DS has drastically improved our road trips keeping the kiddos entertained, with games we deem appropriate, for hours.

 

My most favorite feature about the Nintendo DS is that you can purchase one game cartridge and "download" it to another DS (in close proximity) so multiple people can play against each other, as seen in the video below. This means that my children (8,6 and 3) can play together and I can read a book on our travels.

 

 

We purchased our Nintendo DSs last holiday season and they made our 19 hour road trip home from Disney a little less stressfull. So it's my pleasure to announce the following:

My boys both have DS's and love them. I agree, they are lifesavers for road trips. We had a 1,200 trip to NY and then back-we made sure the kids had them and all the games.

My two boys, 7 & 4yrs share a Nintendo DS so it would be amazing to be able to give them one of their own each! They would have such a blast playing the multi-player games and would think I was the coolest mom ever if I were able to win this & give it to them :D

We are also not a gaming family... Only fam on the block without a wii, xbox, etc... My son does play pc games that we find appropriate. I have heard great things about the nintendo ds and I think this would be good for my 10 year old son when we travel on our boat. we are sometimes running our boat for 7 hours at a time for a long trip. My 5 year old had her ds lite stolen at summer camp...I guess even in Ohio nothing is safe anymore... sigh..

My daughter loved her DS, I loved that I could buy games that actually challenged her brain and taught her something. I have to admit I liked having the peace and quiet for a few minutes.

My husband gave me a DSi for Christmas last year and it was the best gift ever. I have a chronic pain condition and the DSi is a wonderful distraction. It gives me something to focus on and help me to keep calm. It would be great to have another in the family so that my husband or son could play with me!

Jaelah, my six-year-old daughter would use the DSi. She's been asking for it for two years. Her grandmother said she would to get it for her 6th birthday (April) but never followed through. She was so heartbroken!

I told myself that I'd save up and buy it for Christmas, but if we win the giveaway, it would save a lot of money. She'd be thrilled, and so would my bank account!

She deserves it too. She's been trying her hardest in school, is a huge help around the house and an awesome big sister! :)

I would love a new DSi, the older two have one, but the youngest Z is begging for one. Her sister will only let her use hers occasionally and the funds just haven't been available to get her one. The DSi would go to my 8yo daughter who has been begging for one for a year now. She currently has a used one we bought prior to her surgery 18 months ago so she would have something to do while laying the hospital bed recovering for a few days. She would FLIP!

Oh gosh, my son Jack would DIE for this giveaway! I don't usually enter to win things, but for him, I am! He's 7 and has never had any kind of gaming system. We've held out, but more and more of his friends are getting them and he's been begging for one for over a year! It's not been in the budget so he's been trying to save his money! He has $27.43 (he just counted)! And I'm afraid by the time he saves enough, he'll be too old! :) Anyway, if he won, he'd be overjoyed!

My Grandpa was just diagnosed with an advanced case of melanoma. We have been driving 4 hours every other Friday night and back 4 hours the following Sunday in order to spend all of the time that we can with him. With this amazing gift, my 8 year old would have a little bit of entertainment for the trip and just maybe, I wouldn't have to hear her complain about the dog breathing on her. Please help preserve what little mental sanity I have left!

My son (6) has been wanting one of these for a long time, but I've resisted partly on the grounds of expense. It would, however, be extremely useful for the 45 minutes/week he has to sit through his sister's ballet class or the hour she putters around during his soccer practice, and so on. Didn't realize they could link and play together ... [is that sad to admit?] NOticed games on the scholastic book order even, math and science and other ones too for Lia's age. We limit games, but use them like you for trips. I looked, there are even games for the younger one too!

My 11.5 year old son would love a Nintendo - he has wanted one for the past year and has been saving 1/2 of his allowance each week for one - he's not quite there yet. I would love to reward all of his good savings for all his hard work.
