"It looks like you're packing for NYC's fashion week."
"What do you mean?"
"All of those shoes." My husband waved his hand over my collection of stilettos. "It doesn't look like you are packing for a two-day writer's workshop, in the Midwest. At a college surrounded by corn fields."
"Now that's just silly." I faced him. "If I were packing for fashion week I would include my collection of boots too."
"But Mama..." My first-grader entered the room. "Why are you going to college to work on writing?"
"Because I enjoy writing."
"You really need to spend more time working on math. You make too many mistakes checking my homework."
Touché, my son, adding double digits makes my head spin, multiplication tables cause me to sweat and I won't discuss what fractions do to me. At least one male in our family is able to create sensible arguments. |

Beautiful shoes. I can barely walk in flats, even runners.
I've been barefoot, or in clogs , for the past 15 years.
Happy for you, girlfriend.
Have a great time and I can help with math. I finally figured out the "new" way of teaching math.UGH!!
Something tells me you will be the best dressed Mama at the workshop. And maybe, just maybe, inspire a few to collegiates to trade their flops for some stilettos. Enjoy yourself!
