This weekend was full of birthday festivities for Feenie. She shared her wiener-dog-wedding cake (a fancy white "bridal shower" sheet cake where her beloved dog was drawn in the center) with her girlfriends at a "sleep under" party, baked donut holes drowned in sprinkles to bring to her classroom kindergarten party and capped the weekend off with a fabulous Sunday night dinner surrounded by our extended family. Even her Godfather from Milwaukee took the train down to join us singing "Sto Lat" all afternoon long. As busy and amazing as the weekend was, the most simple things were the most important.
"I feel like I really love my life, Mama."
Six.
Pollo Campero - we accidently discovered the yummy in Costa Rica.
It took Apolonia eighty-nine years but Feenie giggled when she willingly wore a birthday hat, to celebrate Six.
Oldest and youngest in our family surrounded by cousins, aunts, uncles, siblings, grandparents and parents to celebrate Six. Such an ordinary event for many but extraordinary for us - a huge difference from last year's celebration of Five. The highlight of Feenie's day was when she learned how to play Sardines (reverse hide and seek) from her Godfather's girlfriend. (Hi, Lauren!) That was worth six presents or more. The only reason she asked to leave her Sunday night dinner party after four hours was because she wanted to paint her nails with Uncle Mike's present that he purchased by walking into a Sally Beauty Supply store (this is shocking because my baby brother buys everything online - the last place I would imagine him shopping at IRL was at a beauty store). Awwww.... the things you do for those you love.
"I'm just so happy!"
"Me too, girlfriend. Me too."
Happy Six! Sweet Feenie. May you always be surrounded by love. |

Happy Birthday, sweet Feenie and Happy Birth Day, my sweet friend.
